Newsletter: 2024M4W4

The last newsletter till we reopen in June! New policy documents (very vital for us to build a comprehensive understanding of the child’s development) to research and techniques that will help us into the design of our Bridge programme!

3 To Pique

  1. The National Curriculum for Early Childhood Care and Education 2024 for children between the ages of 3 & 6 is out. Named Aadharshila, it, supposedly, integrates best practices gathered from 16 states, research studies and stakeholders across India.
  2. A recent Pew Research report on how it feels to be a teacher (in the USA) provides a lot of substance for reflection on what it would mean if that question was asked of teachers in India (esp. in the light of the electoral duties they are being subjected to).
  3. Here’s an Edutopia piece on how to move from the “main idea” to “background knowledge”. And for teachers who raised the question on research on how to make things sticky, our current strategy of a pooled vocabulary (and I will write an article on it soon) has been cited as one of the techniques! Yoohoo!

2 To Play With

  1. Things Education has a very nice piece on combining pedagogical techniques to enhance learning outcomes. I’ve often found their newsletters informative and their tool, TEPS, very valuable. Do consider using it.
  2. This is an old one from Teach Thought on incorporating some critical thinking strategies in one’s lesson plans. I think it should simply be basic hygiene that teachers use one of these (at the least) in every single lesson.

1 To Pause

As I leave (and we are constantly departing), is it more important to know how much people will miss me or how much of the system (family, team, organisation, domain, etc.) was positively impacted?
